The OFFSITE : PILOT EPISODE
Montreal, Canada — where winter isn’t just a season, it’s a way of life. Snow blankets the city almost daily, transforming its streets into a cinematic landscape that feels both timeless and alive. It’s the perfect setting for storytelling, especially when that story blends humor, realism, and a sharp look into corporate culture.
What happens when a growing company with 13,000+ subscribers, a 50% open rate, and huge ambitions holds its first official offsite? In Pure Procurement: The Offsite, founder Joël and the company’s Head of Growth meet for a strategic planning retreat to map out the future of their fast-growing procurement media company. The problem? The entire company is… two people.

I had the opportunity to join the crew on a mockumentary-style production titled The Offsite—a project inspired by the dry, observational comedy of The Office, but reimagined through a distinctly Canadian lens. Set against the cold, textured environment of Montreal, the film captures the nuances of workplace dynamics in a way that feels both familiar and refreshingly original.
At the center of it all is the creative vision of Joël Collin-Demers, whose concept brings procurement—a world rarely explored on screen—into focus. Through his perspective, The Offsite dives into the day-to-day realities of business operations, elevating them into something engaging, character-driven, and unexpectedly humorous.
From a production standpoint, shooting in Montreal’s winter conditions added an extra layer of authenticity and challenge. The snow, the cold air, and the natural lighting all contributed to a grounded, immersive aesthetic that enhances the mockumentary style.
Projects like The Offsite are a reminder that compelling stories can come from anywhere—even the structured, often overlooked world of procurement. With the right creative direction and a strong visual approach, even the most unexpected subjects can resonate with audiences.
