  • Our workshops are designed for photographers, filmmakers, artists, and creatives of all experience levels. Whether you're picking up a camera for the first time or refining your craft, you'll receive practical, hands-on instruction in a supportive environment.

  • No. Beginners are welcome, and more advanced photographers will receive guidance tailored to their skill level.

  • Workshops are conducted primarily in English. Participants are welcome to use real-time translation applications for additional language support. I’m fluent in English and Spanish. I have N4 level Japanese.

  • Participants must be 18 years or older unless otherwise noted.

  • Most workshops take place throughout Osaka and the surrounding Kansai region. The meeting location will be provided after registration.

  • Any DSLR, mirrorless, smart phone camera, or advanced compact camera is suitable. The focus is on developing your creative eye not owning the most expensive equipment.

  • Yes. While some workshops welcome smartphone photography, others are designed specifically for participants using interchangeable-lens or fixed-lens cameras. Each workshop page will clearly outline the equipment requirements, so you'll know exactly what to bring before you register.

  • A standard zoom (24–70mm equivalent) or a prime lens between 35mm and 50mm is ideal for most workshops. I typically use a 28mm fixed lens.

  • Only for workshops where long exposures or specific techniques are being taught. If required, it will be listed in the workshop details.

  • Reserve your seat directly through the website. Once your registration is confirmed, you'll receive a confirmation email with meeting details and preparation information.

  • Yes. Workshops require advance payment to secure your reservation.

  • Yes. Workshops are intentionally kept small to allow for individual instruction and feedback.

  • Please refer to the cancellation policy on the workshop page. Because spaces are limited, cancellations may be subject to specific deadlines.

  • Some workshops involve several kilometers of walking through city streets. Comfortable shoes are strongly recommended.

  • Unless weather conditions become unsafe, workshops typically continue. Rain often creates unique photographic opportunities.

  • Yes. Throughout the workshop, you'll receive constructive feedback on composition, exposure, storytelling, and technique.

  • Absolutely. Questions are encouraged throughout the session.

  • Yes. Depending on the workshop, we'll cover exposure, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, autofocus, composition, and working with natural or available light.

  • Some workshops include editing demonstrations, while others focus entirely on shooting in the field.

  • The workshops emphasize cinematic composition, visual storytelling, street photography, documentary observation, and creating photographs with purpose rather than simply documenting what you see.

  • Absolutely. International visitors are welcome.

  • Of course. Workshops are open to both residents of Japan and international travelers.

  • Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the meeting location unless otherwise specified.

  • Yes. You're welcome to share your work. If photographing other participants, please ask for their permission before posting.

  • Occasionally, behind-the-scenes photos may be taken for future workshop promotion. If you prefer not to appear in photographs, simply let us know.

  • Moera Creative is an independent creative studio founded by artist, filmmaker, and photographer Erick Moya in 2009. The studio brings together original films, photography, visual art, content creation, workshops, and storytelling—creating work that informs, inspires, and connects people through creativity, observation, and craftsmanship.

  • Erick Moya is an American filmmaker, photographer, and artist based in Osaka, Japan. With over 25 years of creative experience, he leads immersive workshops that combine technical photography with cinematic storytelling and visual observation.

  • I intentionally keep each workshop small so every participant receives individual guidance, constructive feedback, and time to ask questions. A smaller group creates a more relaxed learning environment and allows us to focus on making stronger photographs rather than simply moving from location to location.

  • These aren't traditional camera classes or photography tours. While you'll improve your technical skills, the focus is on developing your eye learning how to see light, composition, atmosphere, and storytelling. The goal isn't just to take better photographs; it's to create images that have intention, emotion, and a lasting impact.

  • Many workshops include digital reference materials, shooting guides, and recommended resources. Any materials included with a workshop will be noted in the workshop description.
